Katie Martin

Logistics Manager, UK

As Logistics Manager for NOR UK, Katie Martin coordinates logistics for rental projects, making sure equipment is prepared, organised and delivered according to project requirements.

What the role involves

In rental logistics, no two deliveries are exactly the same. Even when the equipment or type of project is familiar, there are always details to coordinate, timelines to manage and small challenges to work through.

For Katie, one of the most rewarding parts of the role is knowing that clients receive exactly what they have asked for, on time.

“Every job is different. There will always be at least one small challenge to work through.”

Most important skill

For Katie, organisation is one of the most important skills she uses every day. In a fast-paced operational environment, good structure and attention to the simple things can make a big difference.

Clear coordination helps keep projects moving and ensures that equipment, documentation and delivery requirements are handled efficiently from start to finish.

Career development

Katie joined the rental industry at a young age and was drawn to the type of work, as well as the opportunity to interact with clients and suppliers.

Over the course of her career, she has gained experience across many different parts of a rental business. That broad understanding has helped her develop professionally and given her valuable insight into how each role contributes to the overall operation.

“I have had a taste of almost every aspect within a rental business, starting from filing old fashioned rental contract folders in a big grey cabinet.”

Work environment

Katie describes the work environment at NOR as:

Collaborative. Supportive. Friendly.

What she enjoys most about working with her team is the willingness people have to help when needed. Even if something is not part of someone’s normal day-to-day tasks, people are ready to chip in when the project requires it.

Being part of NOR

Katie is proud of the standard clients receive from NOR. For her, sending high-quality equipment out the door and supporting clients in achieving what they need is a key part of what makes the work meaningful.

Advice for someone starting out

Katie’s advice to anyone starting out in logistics or rental operations is to understand how the full process works. Learning about other people’s roles, and how your own work affects theirs, is important for working well as a team.

Outside of work

Outside of work, Katie enjoys running, spending time with family and friends, and karaoke. She loves a good singalong, although she is not making any promises on behalf of the audience.
