Buckleys Marine Survey Kit
Corrosion Survey Kit
Description
The Buckleys Marine Survey Kit is a corrosion survey kit for marine structures. The kit comprises a weighted silver/silver chloride half cell, a plastic cable spool and a multimeter. The half cell is connected to the cable spool by 75 m of CSP 55/015 cable, and two other leads connect the spool and the structure to the multimeter.
The half cell is housed in a PVC body with holes that let water flow around the cell, and it is weighted to help keep it in position. In use, the multimeter is connected to the structure (+ terminal) and the cable spool (− terminal), the half cell is lowered into the sea at the desired position, and the multimeter set to the DC voltage range displays the corrosion voltage. The kit can be tailored to customer requirements.
The half cell measures 140 mm long × 25 mm diameter and has an output of −5 mV @ 25 °C to a calomel reference cell, with an accuracy of ±10 mV in 3 % sea water. The temperature coefficient is +0.2 mV per °C, the temperature range is 0–30 °C and the working life is up to 10 years. The 3 ½ digit multimeter has a DC accuracy of ±0.5 % and also Ohm and Hz ranges. The datasheet lists dimensions of 36 cm × 36 cm × 36 cm and a weight of 3.5 kg.
