15Te Combined Weak Link
ROV Switchable Weak Link for Subsea Lifting
Description
The 15Te Combined Weak Link (CWL) is a component fitted in the lifting line during subsea lifting operations such as installation or recovery of subsea equipment. It combines two operational modes, a Lifting Mode and a Weak Mode, and switching between the two modes is performed by ROV.
In Lifting Mode the 15Te Combined Weak Link is certified for lifting. In Weak Mode it includes an emergency release breaking point at a set value in the lifting line, to protect the crane, winch and other components in the chain. The release load is set by a calibrated shear pin, and the shear pin break value is made according to client requirements and documented by a calibration testing programme.
The 15Te Combined Weak Link is made of stainless steel and is designed for inline loading with standard shackle interfaces. Mating shackle size is an 18 Te Green Pin Super Shackle or a 12 Te standard shackle. Proof load is 30 Te, dry weight is 24 kg and submerged weight is 21 kg. The pad eyes are 277 mm centre to centre and 44 mm thick, with 38 mm holes.
The 15Te Combined Weak Link is supplied with full documentation and instructions.
