Applanix POS MV SurfMaster One INS
Marine INS with Combined PCS/IMU Enclosure
Description
The Applanix POS MV SurfMaster One INS is an inertial navigation system that provides attitude, heading, heave, position and velocity data for a marine vessel and its onboard sensors, for georeferencing and motion compensation in hydrographic survey. Its system specifications list one PCS/IMU enclosure of 145 × 160 × 66 mm (L × W × H) and 1.3 kg, powered from 10–32 VDC at 17 W, and a GNSS antenna of Ø178 mm and 0.45 kg.
The SurfMaster One performance summary gives roll and pitch accuracy of 0.04° with DGPS, 0.03° with Fugro Marinestar® or IARTK, < 0.03° with POSPac MMS PPP and 0.025° with POSPac MMS IAPPK. Heading accuracy with DGPS is 0.06° with a 4 m baseline or 0.08° with a 2 m baseline. IARTK position accuracy is ±(8 mm + 1 ppm × baseline length) horizontal and ±(15 mm + 1 ppm × baseline length) vertical, assuming a 1 m IMU-GNSS antenna offset. Heave accuracy is 5 cm or 5 % (whichever is greater, for periods of 14 seconds or less), and TrueHeave™ accuracy is 2 cm or 2 % (whichever is greater, for periods of 35 seconds or less).
During GNSS outages, the POS MV SurfMaster One gives position accuracy of ~6 m for 30 s total outages (RTK) and ~3 m for 60 s total outages (IAPPK), with 0.05° roll and pitch and 0.2° (IAPPK) or 0.3° (RTK) heading for a 60 second outage. Features listed for all POS MV models are IN-Fusion 2.0 GNSS aiding, True-Heave™ with no run-in time, SmartCal self-calibration and data time tagged to microsecond accuracy.
Interfaces include 10/100 base-T Ethernet with real-time TCP/IP output at up to 200 Hz, five RS232 COM ports, NMEA output at up to 50 Hz, a 1PPS time sync output and two event inputs for time marking external events (TTL pulses > 1 msec width, max rate 200 Hz). A user-supplied PC running POSView software is required for configuration.
