Applanix RTK POS MV SurfMaster RM IP68 INS

SurfMaster Rackmount INS with IP68 IMU

Description

The Applanix RTK POS MV SurfMaster RM IP68 INS is an inertial navigation system that provides attitude, heading, heave, position and velocity data for a marine vessel and its onboard sensors, for georeferencing and motion compensation in hydrographic survey. The RM IP68 configuration is a rackmount topside with a submersible IMU. The SurfMaster is listed for low dynamic operations on lakes, streams and other inland protected waters, with positioning maintained for up to 30 seconds with GPS dropouts.

The performance summary in this datasheet is headed "Applanix POS MV SurfMaster One accuracy" (one sigma unless otherwise stated). It gives roll and pitch accuracy of 0.03° with IARTK, Fugro Marinestar® or CenterPoint® RTX Marine and 0.025° with POSPac MMS IAPPK. Heading accuracy is 0.06° with a 4 m baseline or 0.08° with a 2 m baseline in all listed GNSS modes. IARTK position accuracy is ±(8 mm + 1 ppm × baseline length) horizontal and ±(15 mm + 1 ppm × baseline length) vertical, assuming a 1 m IMU-GNSS antenna offset. Heave accuracy is 5 cm or 5 % (whichever is greater, for periods of 14 seconds or less).

The rack mount PCS measures 442 × 356 × 46 mm, weighs 3.9 kg and runs on AC 120/230 V, 50/60 Hz, auto-switching, 40 W. The submersible IMU measures Ø100 mm (base plate Ø132 mm) × 61 mm (height excludes connector), weighs 2.4 kg, is rated IP68 and operates from −40 to +60 °C. Features listed for all POS MV models are IN-Fusion 2.0 GNSS aiding, True-Heave™ with no run-in time, SmartCal self-calibration and data time tagged to microsecond accuracy.

The Applanix POS MV SurfMaster outputs data over 10/100 base-T Ethernet, with real-time TCP/IP output at up to 200 Hz on the primary port, and over five RS232 COM ports with NMEA output at up to 50 Hz. RTCM V2.x, RTCM V3.x, CMR, CMR+ and CMRx base corrections are accepted at 1 Hz, and a 1PPS time sync output is provided.
