Diamond Wire Saw
Subsea Diamond Wire Saw for 16–36 in Pipe
Description
The Wachs Subsea Diamond Wire Saw cuts submerged pipe, casing and structures of varying materials and thicknesses with a high-speed rotating diamond wire loop. This model cuts pipe from 16 in (406 mm) to 36 in (914 mm) O.D., and can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
The saw runs on hydraulic power, around 76 l/min at 172 bar depending on the application, and is controlled remotely from the Wachs Topside Control Panel, a Wachs HPU with integrated control panel, or by ROV via zero-leak hot stabs. Three hydraulic circuits drive the cutting wire, the feed and the synchronised clamping arms. The wire speed is variable up to 1,500 rpm, and an automatic self-adjusting screw feed with manual override adapts the feed to the workpiece. The hydrodynamic design reduces centrifugal forces, so less power is lost churning water and more goes into cutting.
The frame is made of powder-coated aluminium plate with stainless steel hardware and anode protection against corrosion. An overload clutch protects the bow from damage, and the diamond wire, urethane clamping pads and wire guides are user-replaceable. The saw measures 2,350 × 1,772 × 813 mm and weighs 544 kg.
