EdgeTech 2300B Combined Sonar System
Combined Side Scan Sonar, Bathymetry & Sub-Bottom Profiling System
Description
The EdgeTech 2300B combines EdgeTech’s side scan sonars, sub-bottom profilers and MPES bathymetry into one fully integrated system for deep water combined sonar operations. Using EdgeTech’s Full Spectrum® CHIRP technology, the EdgeTech 2300B operates any two side scan sonar frequencies simultaneously from its 230/540/850 kHz tri-frequency system, with an operating range of 300 m per side at 230 kHz, 150 m at 540 kHz and 75 m at 850 kHz.
The EdgeTech 2300B sub-bottom profiler uses 4 x DW 106 transducers with a 1-10 kHz frequency band, 10-30 cm resolution and penetration of 20 m in coarse sand and 200 m in clay, together with a large PVDF hydrophone array. The 540 kHz Multi Phase Echo Sounder (MPES) produces real-time, high resolution, three dimensional (3D) maps of the seafloor with a max swath width of 200 m, while providing co-registered simultaneous dual frequency side scan imagery.
The EdgeTech 2300B towfish is 205.9 cm long and 81.7 cm wide, weighs 650 lb (272 kg) in water and has a maximum water depth of 2000 meters standard. It has built-in heading, pitch, roll, heave and depth sensors and digital telemetry over a single coaxial tow cable, and can support additional sensor interface options including a USBL beacon and a towed magnetometer.
