EdgeTech 3400-OTS Sub-Bottom Profiler
Over-the-Side Pole Mount Sub-Bottom Profiler
Description
The EdgeTech 3400-OTS is an over-the-side pole mount sub-bottom profiler that transmits wide band frequency modulated (FM) pulses using EdgeTech's Full Spectrum CHIRP technology. The EdgeTech 3400-OTS uses a flat multi-channel hydrophone array to image sub-bottom stratigraphy in oceans, lakes and rivers. The receiver array is segmented for standard sub-bottom profiling or a pipeline mode for locating and imaging buried pipelines or cables.
The EdgeTech 3400-OTS is available in a 4–24 kHz and a 2–16 kHz version. The 3400-OTS Ultra-Light operates at 4–24 kHz with one transmitter and 4–8 cm vertical resolution, gives typical penetration of 2 m in sand and 40 m in clay, measures 77 × 33 × 34 cm and weighs 21.4 kg in air. The 3400-OTS Light operates at 2–16 kHz with one transmitter and 6–10 cm vertical resolution, gives typical penetration of 6 m in sand and 80 m in clay, measures 77 × 33 × 34 cm and weighs 26.3 kg in air. Both versions use a 200 W power amplifier and a 20 m deck cable (50 m max).
The EdgeTech 3400-OTS provides real-time reflection coefficient measurements for measuring sediment reflection and determining sediment type, and its discrete transmit and receive channels allow continuous data collection. Other listed features are a digital receiver with Ethernet telemetry and power, real-time pitch, roll, heave and depth sensors, surface echo attenuation and a pulse library for different survey applications. The topside interface is a rugged, portable splash-proof enclosure (or rackmounted) with 120/220 VAC auto-sensing power input, Ethernet input/output, native JSF, SEG-Y and XTF file formats and Windows 10 as the recommended operating system; a splash-resistant semi-rugged laptop display is optional.
The EdgeTech 3400-OTS comes as a complete package with EdgeTech DISCOVER sub-bottom acquisition and processing software and can also be interfaced to third-party software. Listed applications include geological surveys, environmental site investigations, sediment classification, buried pipeline and cable surveys, archaeological surveys, mining/dredging surveys and mapping, measuring and classifying sediment layers within the seafloor.
