Description
The HPU and Accumulator System for Emergency Release is a combined hydraulic power unit (HPU) and accumulator system in one frame, designed for use together with a wire/hose cutter. Used with a wire cutter, the accumulator system allows the cutter to be operated in an emergency situation where all power from the ship or rig is lost. The accumulator system is pre-loaded to cut the designated wire or cable without external power.
The HPU and Accumulator System has an accumulator capacity of 74 L, an accumulator charge pressure of 300 bar and a pre-charge gas pressure of 140 bar. It has a hydraulic intensifier with a 4:1 ratio and a maximum outlet pressure of 630 bar. The accumulator can be used for all hydraulic units, and the system can also be used as an operative HPU.
The HPU and Accumulator System requires an electric supply of 7.5 kW, 415/440 V, 3 ph, 50/60 Hz. The frame is in accordance with BS 7072. The unit measures 1000 × 800 × 2,277 mm and weighs 750 kg. Pressure and return connections are ¼" BSP.
