NORTEK DVL 1000-4000m

1 MHz Doppler Velocity Log

Description

The Nortek DVL1000 – 4000 m is a 1 MHz Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) with a maximum operational depth of 4000 m, intended for subsea navigation where size and weight are a concern. The Nortek DVL1000 provides bottom tracking from 0.2 to 75 m altitude, water tracking and current profiling, with quality estimates per beam and ping.

The DVL1000 uses a 4-beam Janus array convex transducer with a 25° beam angle and 2.9° beam width. Bottom velocity single ping standard deviation is 0.5 cm/s at 3 m/s, long-term accuracy is ±0.1 % / ±0.1 cm/s, velocity resolution is 0.01 mm/s and maximum ping rate is 8 Hz. Water tracking and current profiling have a minimum accuracy of 0.3 % of measured value ± 0.3 cm/s, and current profiling has a maximum range of 30 m with up to 150 cells of 0.2–2.0 m.

The DVL1000 has a POM and titanium housing, 164 mm high with a diameter of ø114 mm, and weighs 2.7 kg (1.7 kg in water). It runs on 12–48 V DC input with 1.3 W average power and 1.5 A maximum peak current. Interfaces are configurable RS232 or RS422 serial on a Subconn 8-pin male connector, or 10/100 Mbits Ethernet, with Nortek proprietary, NMEA0183 and PDx variant data formats. Internal memory is 16 GB, with 64 GB optional, and pressure and temperature sensors are included.
