Oceano MT912S Series
Medium Frequency Miniature Transponder
Description
The Oceano MT912S Series is a medium frequency (MF) miniature acoustic transponder/responder for AUV, ROV and tow fish tracking, rated to 1000 m water depth. It is developed from iXblue electronics and wide spectrum technology and is designed to operate with Gaps MF-USBL acoustic positioning systems.
The MT912S has an omnidirectional transducer with protective cage and transmits medium frequency M-FSK chirp signals in the 21.7 to 30.3 kHz band, using 12 M-FSK wide-spectrum codes of 10 ms width. Transmit source level is 188 ± 4 dB ref. 1 µPa @ 1 m by default, with 191 dB or 185 dB field selectable. The interrogation channel is field selectable among 4 tonal frequencies (19.5, 20, 20.5 and 21 kHz). The unit works in transponder and responder modes, and responder mode reverts automatically to transponder mode after a 25 second delay.
The MT912S has an internal long life Ni-MH rechargeable battery with an operating life of 4 months and 100,000 replies at 20 °C and 188 dB, and can also run from an external 15–30 Vdc supply. Configuration and set-up are done via serial port with PC Windows™ based MMI software. A Micro Subconn 8-way connector carries external power and responder signal inputs, and the unit is supplied with a charging / interface adaptor and responder interface cable.
The MT912S-R (KAA00156) has an integral transducer, a length of 349 mm without connector, a diameter of 91 mm, and weighs 4.4 kg in air and 2.3 kg in water. The MT912S/HD-R (KAA00155) has a remote PET962S transducer on a 3 m interconnect cable and weighs 5.6 kg in air and 3.0 kg in water including transducer and cable. The body is 316L stainless steel with polyurethane coating. A remote acoustic transducer configuration, a 3000 m depth housing and provisions for a pressure sensor are optional.
