Octans Nano

Compact Subsea Gyrocompass and Attitude Sensor

Description

The Octans Nano is a compact subsea attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) built on Exail's fibre-optic gyroscope (FOG) technology. It computes true heading, roll, pitch and rates of turn in real time, in a six-litre titanium housing rated to 6,000 m.

Heading accuracy is 0.5° secant latitude RMS with GNSS and/or speed aiding, and roll and pitch accuracy is 0.1° RMS without aiding. It accepts input from GNSS, USBL, LBL, DVL, EM log, depth, CTD and SVP sensors and can rebroadcast sensor inputs. Typical applications are ROV navigation, towfish, plough and trencher navigation, and attitude monitoring of subsea structures.

The unit has five RS422/RS232 serial ports, 10/100 Mbit Ethernet and PPS input and output, with data output at 0.1–200 Hz. It runs on 24 VDC (20–32 V), draws less than 20 W, weighs 11.33 kg in air and 6.6 kg in water, and measures Ø178 × 266 mm. It contains no ITAR components.
