SeaGear Oceanographic Winch

Winch for Oceanographic Instruments

Description

The SeaGear Oceanographic Winch is a deck-mountable winch for deploying and retrieving oceanographic instruments, including CTDs, sound velocity profilers, sub-bottom profilers, acoustic releases and sampling equipment. The datasheet lists research, environmental monitoring and hydrographic survey applications, on vessels from small research boats to larger survey platforms.

The SeaGear Oceanographic Winch is built from marine-grade stainless steel and aluminium, with corrosion resistance and weatherproof electrical components in a compact, modular frame. It has variable speed control and is available with cable lengths from 100 m to 1000+ m. The winch accommodates electromechanical (EM) and electro-optical (EO) cables, with slip ring options for real-time data transmission.

The SeaGear winch can be configured with manual, electric or hydraulic drive, depending on operational needs. A drum level-wind and cable tension sensors are available as options, and the datasheet states that the winch is designed for operation by a minimal crew.
