Sonardyne ROVNav 6+ LBL Transceiver and USBL Responder

ROV LBL Transceiver and USBL Responder

Description

The Sonardyne ROVNav 6+ is a 6G ranging and telemetry transceiver designed for installation on work class ROVs for Long BaseLine (LBL) and Sparse LBL aided SPRINT INS operations. The ROVNav 6+ also works as a USBL responder or transponder with Sonardyne Wideband 2 USBL systems and HPR400. Its internal Li-ion rechargeable battery pack enables an emergency transponder mode, so the ROV can still be located by USBL if the umbilical, and therefore power, is cut.

The ROVNav 6+ operates in the Medium Frequency (MF) band, 19–34 kHz, with an omni-directional remote transducer. Transmit source level is 187–196 dB re 1 µPa @ 1 m in 4 levels, receiver sensitivity is 90–120 dB re 1 µPa and range precision is better than 15 mm. It supports Sonardyne Wideband 2 and 3 telemetry, Compatt 6+, Fusion 2 LBL and SPRINT INS software, with selectable user data rates of 100–9000 bps. The integrated modem can download data from Sonardyne AMT and Fetch products.

The ROVNav 6+ is made in three depth ratings: 8340-3161 (3000 m) in hard anodised aluminium 6082, and 8340-5261 (5000 m) and 8340-7261 (7000 m) in hard anodised aluminium 7075. All versions measure 768 × 200 mm (maximum, length × diameter), run on 24 or 48 V dc (±10 %) and use RS232 or RS485 (half-duplex) serial communications. Temperature, strain gauge pressure and MEMS inclinometer sensors are standard, and a high precision strain gauge (±0.01 %) is optional.
