Sonardyne SPRINT-Nav
All-in-One Hybrid Navigation Instrument
Description
The Sonardyne SPRINT-Nav is an all-in-one hybrid navigation instrument for subsea vehicles and survey operations. It combines inertial sensors, a Syrinx Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) and a high accuracy pressure sensor in a single titanium housing. The DVL is available in two frequencies: 600 kHz (standard) or 400 kHz High Altitude (HA).
The SPRINT-Nav provides dual concurrent AHRS, INS and DVL output, so one instrument can, for example, supply AHRS plus DVL for ROV piloting and INS plus DVL for survey at the same time. The INS initialises instantly from the on-board AHRS with no alignment procedure, and the dual AHRS and INS algorithms enable an internal health check of orientation. The unit is supplied pre-calibrated. Each DVL transducer has a depth-rated water block, and with beam-level aiding the SPRINT-Nav continues to function if one DVL transducer is damaged.
The series comprises SPRINT-Nav 300, 500, 700 and X. DVL-aided typical survey performance (CEP50) is 0.04 % for the 300, 0.02 % for the 500 and 0.01 % for the 700 and X, and INS heading (secant latitude) is 0.05°, 0.04°, 0.02° and 0.01° respectively. Altitude min/max is 0.4/175 m as standard or 0.4/230 m with the High Altitude option, and roll and pitch is 0.01° for all models.
The SPRINT-Nav runs on 20–50 V DC (15 W nominal, 35 W maximum) with a Li-ion internal battery backup for 5 minutes, and has 8 GB internal memory, 4 × RS232 or RS485 serial ports, Ethernet and 4 triggers. It is available rated to 4000 m (240 × 395 mm, 23.9 kg in air, 13.1 kg in water, estimated) or 6000 m (240 × 405 mm, 28.1 kg in air, 17.2 kg in water, estimated). Typical applications are AUV, AIV, ROV, towfish and ROTV, autonomous and resident vehicles, and survey and construction.
