Syrinx – doppler velocity log

Doppler Velocity Log, 400 or 600 kHz

Description

The Sonardyne Syrinx is a doppler velocity log (DVL) that works as a standalone navigation instrument or integrates into Sonardyne SPRINT Nav or third-party navigation systems. Syrinx is available at 600 kHz (8275-4531/6531) or 400 kHz (8275-4561) for higher altitude tracking, and uses both doppler and correlation techniques with adaptive signalling.

Single ping bottom velocity precision is ±0.22 cm/s (600 kHz) or ±0.28 cm/s (400 kHz) at 1 m/s, specified at 20–30 m altitude. Long term accuracy is ±0.12 % ±0.1 cm/s (600 kHz) or ±0.22 % ±0.1 cm/s (400 kHz). Minimum/maximum altitude is 0.4/175 m for 600 kHz (150 m bottom acquire range) and 0.4/230 m for 400 kHz. The data output rate is up to 25 Hz, the velocity range is >10 m/s and the velocity resolution is 0.01 cm/s.

ADCP and DVL+ADCP modes (optional) give current profiling over 0.4–80 m (600 kHz) or 0.4–120 m (400 kHz), with up to 255 cells and a ping rate of 4 Hz (ADCP) or 2.5 Hz (DVL+ADCP). When Syrinx is integrated with SPRINT INS, inertial velocities can be used to correct ADCP profiles for vessel speed without bottom lock or in moving bed conditions. The ADCP data uses an extended PD0 format, and the Echo Observer for Syrinx software can be included with the ADCP upgrade (optional).

Syrinx has a 4-beam array at 30° beam angles with individually replaceable transducers and an internal bulkhead that prevents water ingress if a transducer is damaged. It communicates over dual RS232 and multi-port Ethernet (TCP & UDP), logs to 32 GB internal memory and is configured through an on-board web interface. The titanium housing is rated to 4,000 or 6,000 m and runs on 24 V (±10 %) dc at 10 W nominal.
