Tasman DVL
600 kHz / 300 kHz Phased-Array DVL
Description
The Teledyne RD Instruments Tasman DVL is a phased-array Doppler velocity log (DVL) available in 600 kHz and 300 kHz versions. It provides bottom tracking, water tracking and acoustic Doppler current profiling (ADCP) for vehicles from small ROVs to large diameter AUVs, and from USVs to crewed surface ships. The phased-array transducer is field-replaceable, and the Tasman DVL is designed as a drop-in replacement for the previous-generation TRDI Workhorse Navigator.
The 600 kHz Tasman DVL bottom tracks from 0.15 m to 100 m altitude (160 m with XRT), and the 300 kHz version from 0.3 m to 275 m (up to 500 m with XRT). Long-term bottom-track accuracy is ±0.06 % ±0.1 cm/s below 4 m altitude for the 600 kHz version and ±0.08 % ±0.1 cm/s below 8 m altitude for the 300 kHz version. Water profiling range is 60 m (600 kHz) or 150 m (300 kHz), and the 4-beam phased array has a nominal beam angle of 30°.
Both versions of the Tasman DVL are rated to 6000 m, measure 18.73 cm diameter × 17.4 cm high and weigh 8.7 kg in air and 4.4 kg in water. Input voltage is 10.7–36 VDC (600 kHz) or 12–36 VDC (300 kHz), and communication is Ethernet and RS232, with RS422 as a factory-installed option. A health monitor reports transducer health, leak detection, pressure cycles, maximum pressure, over pressure and operating time, and an SBG Ellipse2-A AHRS is available as an option.
