Trimble BX992

Dual Antenna GNSS-Inertial Receiver

Description

The Trimble BX992 is a dual antenna GNSS receiver module from Trimble with an integrated inertial navigation system and MSS band demodulator in a compact IP67 enclosure. The Trimble BX992 integrates MEMS inertial sensors on the same module as the GNSS engine to produce position and orientation, including continuous positioning in GNSS-denied environments.

The Trimble BX992 is based on Trimble Maxwell 7 technology with 2 × 336 tracking channels and tracks GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, IRNSS and QZSS signals, plus SBAS and MSS L-band (OmniSTAR, Trimble RTX) on the position antenna. It supports Trimble CenterPoint RTX, and Trimble FieldPoint RTX and RangePoint RTX with the Trimble ProPoint positioning engine (optional). In RTK mode the BX992 specifies 0.008 m horizontal and 0.015 m vertical position accuracy, 0.10° roll/pitch and 0.09° heading on a 2 m baseline; in INS-RTK mode during 10 second GNSS outages, position accuracy is 0.30 m (H) and 0.20 m (V). The maximum position/attitude update rate is 100 Hz and position latency is < 20 ms at maximum output rate.

Interfaces on the Trimble BX992 include 1 USB 2.0 device port, 1 LAN Ethernet port (10BaseT/100BaseT), 2 × RS232 ports with baud rates up to 460,800 and 1 CAN port, with a web UI for configuration, status and data transfer and ROS 1 and ROS 2 drivers available. Outputs include NMEA-0183, Trimble GSOF and NMEA2000 navigation messages, CMR, CMR+, sCMRx and RTCM reference data, and 1 PPS, with event marker input. The BX992 runs on 9–30 VDC with typical power of 3.0 W (L1/L2 GPS + L1/L2 GLONASS), weighs 0.76 kg, measures 185 × 93 × 43 mm and operates from −40 to +75 °C.
