Tritech Gemini 1200ik
Dual-Frequency Forward-Looking Multibeam Imaging Sonar
Description
The Tritech Gemini 1200ik is a dual-frequency, forward-looking multibeam imaging sonar. It operates at 720 kHz for long range target detection (up to 120 m) and 1200 kHz for high-resolution imaging (up to 50 m), with a 120° horizontal field of view at both frequencies. The frequency can switch automatically at a set range or be changed manually.
The sonar attenuates waterborne electrical noise from thrusters and other subsea equipment, and an integrated velocity-of-sound sensor gives accurate target positioning. CHIRP processing improves target separation at longer ranges. The update rate is 5–40 Hz depending on range, and bandwidth use can be limited by capping the ping rate, reducing resolution or enabling data compression. The sonar is controlled with Tritech's Genesis software.
The 1200ik is available rated to 500 m or 1000 m. It runs on 19–74 VDC, uses 9.5–27 W depending on range and communicates over Ethernet, with an RS232 auxiliary port. The 500 m version weighs 1.46 kg in air and 0.44 kg in water.
