Description
The USM Compact Sonar Mount VOOP Kit is a Vessel of Opportunity kit for adding a USM Compact Sonar Mount to a vessel without the need to weld onto or drill through the gunnel. The VOOP kit can be configured using various extensions, supports and clamps, and it includes all wrenches and drivers needed for assembly.
The USM Compact VOOP Kit weighs 39.7 lbs (18.0 kg) and measures 19-7/8″ × 15-1/2″ × 7-7/8″ (50.48 × 39.37 × 20.00 cm). The quick-start manual in the datasheet lists three ways of securing the base plate to the gunnel: welded down by a professional, bolted down using the eight flat head bolts, or with the VOOP assembly.
Assembly steps in the quick-start manual cover attaching the USM to the base plate with four long bolts (1/2″-13, 35 ft/lbs), fitting and engaging the shear block (20 ft/lbs), attaching the Z-pole clamps and Z-pole (socket head cap screws 3/8″-16, 30 ft/lbs), and deploying the sonar by lowering the Z-pole into the water and aligning the X-pole to the desired pitch. For maintenance, stainless hardware is to be coated with a marine grade anti-seize product, and the USM is to be washed and dried after each use.
