Class 1-2 Torque Tool

ISO 13628-8 Class 1–2 ROV Torque Tool

Description

The Class 1-2 Torque Tool is an ROV torque tool for overriding valves, conforming to the ISO 13628-8 Class 1 and 2 bucket interface. It has integral torque and turns counting sensors; the sensor is a strain gauge bridge optimised for torsion measurement that directly measures the torque between the reaction lugs and the driven shaft of the tool.

The Class 1-2 Torque Tool has a torque range of 30–160 Nm (22–120 ft lbs) and a typical repeatability of ±6 % (gerotor variation at full load). The main body weighs 26 kg in air and 18 kg in water. The tool has a fishtail handle and an 8-pin Burton electrical connector, and uses mineral oil as hydraulic fluid.

When matched with a FORUM-supplied torque tool control manifold, the tool provides feedback on torque response. Alternatively, a FORUM Universal Subsea Display (USD, sold separately) gives a visual read-out of live torque feedback and turns count. The tool can be supplied with a socket for paddle and T-bar style interfaces to ISO 13628-8 (optional), and an operation and maintenance manual is included.
