ISA500 Altimeter & AHRS Sensor

Altimeter and Single Beam Echosounder

Description

The Impact Subsea ISA500 is a 500 kHz altimeter and single beam echosounder with an optional integrated Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). The Impact Subsea ISA500 uses a broadband composite transducer and a digital acoustic engine, and is provided in a titanium or acetal housing in forward looking or right angled configurations.

The ISA500 operates at 500 kHz as standard, selectable from 400 to 600 kHz in 1 kHz steps, with a 6° conical beam at 500 kHz. Range is 0.1 to 120 m+ depending on seabed type, with 1 mm accuracy and 1 mm resolution. The optional echogram visualises sonar backscatter data with up to 2,000 samples per ping.

With the optional integrated AHRS, the ISA500 compensates for pitch and roll and provides pitch (±90°) and roll (±180°) with 0.2° accuracy and 0.1° resolution, and magnetic heading with ±1° accuracy and 0.1° resolution. The ISA500 can also be supplied without integrated AHRS.

The ISA500 communicates over RS232 and RS485 at 4800 to 115,200 baud, with optional analogue output of 0 to 5 V DC, 0 to 10 V DC or 4–20 mA, and data rates up to 100 Hz, continuous or on demand. Input voltage is 9 to 36 V DC, and depth rating is 6,000 m for the titanium housing and 1,000 m for the acetal housing. Stated applications include scour monitoring, touchdown monitoring, hydrographic survey, motion reference, wave height measurement, equipment deployment, under ice measurement, underwater positioning and ROV and AUV altitude, heading and attitude.
