Jupiter Subsea TVS API 17D Interface

Subsea Torque Verification System

Description

The Jupiter Subsea Torque Verification System (TVS) from Zetechtics is a stand-alone, battery-powered system that lets ROV operators prove the accuracy of a torque tool immediately before or after operating a client’s valve or subsea actuator. This version fits API 17D Class 1–4 torque tool interfaces with three stem sizes, in a rugged housing rated to 3,000 m.

A built-in light sensor keeps the system dormant until it is illuminated by ROV lights, so the unit can stay deployed subsea for months before use. Battery life is up to 5 months on standby or 5 days with the display on continuously, and the rechargeable NiMH cell has a low battery warning. Using paddle switches, the ROV manipulator can zero the display and switch between Nm and ft-lbs.

Readings can be recorded with the ROV camera, logged in the Jupiter control system’s data logging software where applicable, or both. RS232 output makes the unit usable on deck as well as subsea. The display is separate from the interface so it can be mounted in other locations, and a guard protects the electronics and connectors.

The system is delivered complete with an oil-filled compensator, charger, cables, transit case and full documentation pack, and does not depend on any external systems. The TVS is also available with API 17H (high torque), Petrobras and dual/tri interfaces.
