Manual Low Torque Tool Smart Socket
ROV Torque Limiter, API 17D Class 1–4
Description
The Torque Limiter Tool (API 17D, ISO 13628-8 Class 1–4) is a manual torque tool for ROV manipulator operation of API Class 1–4 rotary torque interfaces. The tool limits the torque that can be transmitted from the ROV manipulator to the valve stem during an ROV intervention, to reduce the risk of over-torqueing and damaging the valve or valve stem.
The Torque Limiter Tool has an integral, adjustable torque limiting clutch that can be pre-set to any torque from 20–200 Nm. The torque can be adjusted without dismantling the tool, and the tool is supplied with a torque wrench for accurate torque setting. The tool is mechanically operated by the ROV.
The nose of the Torque Limiter Tool has a smart multi-socket interface, which removes the need to reconfigure the tool on deck. The tool weighs approximately 14 kg in air and approximately 12 kg submerged, and the depth rating is stated as any water depth.
