Tritech Super SeaKing DFP
Dual Frequency Profiling Sonar
Description
The Tritech Super SeaKing DFP (Super SeaKing Dual Frequency Profiler) is a compact mechanical scanning profiling sonar with a dual frequency composite transducer and a hard boot for protection. It uses side lobe suppression, improved signal to noise and a reduced beamwidth.
The Super SeaKing DFP uses a 1.1 MHz operating mode with a 1° conical beam and 40 m maximum range for high accuracy work at short ranges or in clear water. A 600 kHz operating mode with a 2° conical beam and 80 m maximum range can be used in water containing suspended particles or where longer ranges are required. Minimum range is 0.3 m, pulse length is 20–200 µs, source level is 210 dB re 1 µPa at 1 m and timing resolution is 1 mm, with scan resolutions of 0.45°, 0.9°, 1.35° and 1.8° over a scanned sector of up to 360°.
The Super SeaKing DFP is rated to 4000 m and weighs 3.5 kg in air and 1.7 kg in water (aluminium). It runs on 20–36 V DC at 1 A and communicates over ARCNET (156 kbit/s or 78 kbit/s) or RS232 (115.2 kBd), with an ARCNET line driver range of 1500 m at 156 kbit/s and 2500 m at 78 kbit/s. As part of the SeaKing suite of survey sensors, it can run simultaneously with a number of SeaKing sensors on one network.
Stated applications for the Tritech Super SeaKing DFP are pipeline and trench profiling, precision positioning of mattresses, storage tank survey and underwater surveying of bridge supports.
