uvSVX
Sound Velocity, Temperature and Depth Instrument
Description
The Valeport uvSVX is a compact direct reading instrument aimed primarily at the underwater vehicle market. The uvSVX outputs a selectable, fixed data string at up to 60 Hz of sound velocity, temperature and depth, and optionally salinity and density calculated with Valeport's DASH formula.
Each uvSVX sound velocity measurement is made using a single pulse of sound travelling over a known distance, with a range of 1375–1900 m/s, 0.001 m/s resolution and ±0.02 m/s accuracy. Temperature is measured over −5 to +35 °C with 0.001 °C resolution and ±0.01 °C accuracy. Calculated salinity is ±0.05 PSU and calculated density ±0.05 kg/m³ (optional).
Depth is measured with an interchangeable pressure sensor module with integral calibration, available in 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 600 bar ranges with 0.001 % range resolution and ±0.01 % range accuracy. The pressure module can be changed in a couple of minutes without opening the instrument, and additional modules (PTSA-XXX) are available (optional).
The uvSVX has a titanium housing rated to 6000 m, measures 78 mm Ø × 218 mm (excluding connector), weighs 1.9 kg in air and is vibration and shock tested to ISO 13628-6:2006 (Q2 levels). It runs on 9–28 V DC (isolated) and is offered as an RS232/RS485 version or an Ethernet version; RS232 can be used over cables up to 200 m, and RS485 over cables up to 1000 m with multiple addressed units on a single cable. Each version is supplied with a 0.5 m interface cable, operation manual and transit case.
