Valeport Midas CTD
CTD Profiler with Titanium Housing
Description
The Valeport MIDAS CTD is a CTD profiler with titanium housing for real-time or autonomous profiling. It is fitted with Valeport's high stability conductivity sensor, a temperature-compensated piezo-resistive pressure transducer with ±0.01 % accuracy, and a fast response PRT temperature sensor.
Each sensor has its own microprocessor, controlled by a central processor, so all sensors are sampled at the same instant. Sampling modes are continuous (1, 2, 4 or 8 Hz), burst, trip/profile, conditional and delay. Data is stored in 16 Mb non-volatile flash memory, enough for more than 1,200,000 data points in profile mode.
The instrument can run autonomously, with setup and data extraction from a PC before and after deployment, or in real time over RS232 (up to 200 m cable) or RS485 (up to 1000 m cable). FSK for up to 6000 m cable is available as an option. It is supplied with DataLog Express Windows software.
The MIDAS CTD is rated to 6000 m, depending on the pressure sensor (300 or 600 bar). It runs on 8 × C cells or 9–30 VDC external power, measures 88 mm Ø × 665 mm and weighs 11.5 kg in air and 8.5 kg in water in its stainless steel cage.
