Valeport Mini IPS2 Intelligent Pressure Sensor RS232 & RS485

Intelligent Underwater Pressure Sensor

Description

The Valeport miniIPS2 is an intelligent underwater pressure sensor with RS232 and RS485 output for real-time depth information. It has an interchangeable pressure module with integral calibration that can be changed in a couple of minutes without opening the instrument. Pressure modules are available in 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 600 bar variants.

The pressure module of the Valeport miniIPS2 is a temperature compensated piezo-resistive sensor with ±0.01 % FS accuracy and 0.001 % FS resolution. Data are sampled continuously, as burst averages or on demand, at 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 or 100 Hz in continuous mode and as low as 1 sample per day in burst mode. A secondary calibration function converts dBAR pressure to units such as BAR, metres or feet, and a tare function corrects for atmospheric pressure.

The Valeport miniIPS2 outputs ASCII text over RS232 and RS485 at 4800 to 115200 baud (8,1,N). The data format is compatible with Valeport DataLog X2 and BathyLog software for real-time depth correction using density profiles, and the sensor is compatible with Valeport MIDAS BathyPack. Instruments are configured with Valeport Configure. The sensor runs on 9–28 V DC (isolated) and uses < 0.25 W (12 V × 25 mA).

The titanium housing is rated to 6000 m, measures 40 mm Ø × 196.5 mm including connector and weighs 0.75 kg in air. Vibration and shock are tested to ISO 13628-6:2006 (Q2 levels). Ordering option 0760012-XXX is supplied with an interface lead, an operating manual and a transit case that holds up to three extra pressure modules.
